I came close to buying every single version of them but it never happened. As a kid I loved the lines of the 1st gen xjs v12. When the 2nd gen came out I contacted the dealer in my area and half the car fell off during the test drive, ranging from bits of trim, even the driver side door handle. Needless to say that was not very confidence inspiring. I still believe the 2nd gen have the best looking interior and retain some of that British charm missing from the 3rd gen, wood work in particular is still amazing. I then came close to buying a db7 convertible a rare v12 with a manual gearbox based on the chassis on the 1st gen but it diidnt happen either. The 3rd gen especially in xkr configuration remains quite a popular model, more so than the F type. I like the muscular lines of the 3rd gen quite a bit but if forced to choose one I would probably cast my vote for the 2nd gen in convertible form!
